Overview

About Flat & Garage Roofs

Flat and low-pitch roofs fail differently to a pitched roof, usually through pooling water and worn seams rather than slipped tiles. We install and repair felt, GRP fibreglass and rubber (EPDM) flat roofs on garages, extensions, dormers and outbuildings.

What You Get

What's Included

  • Removal of the old covering and inspection of the deck underneath
  • Torch-on or cold-applied felt, GRP fibreglass, or rubber (EPDM) covering, whichever suits the roof
  • New edge trims, upstands and drip details to stop water tracking back under the covering
  • Repairs to isolated splits, blisters and pooling on existing flat roofs
  • A tidy finish with all offcuts and old material removed

The Process

How It Works

  1. 1We inspect the roof and the deck it sits on
  2. 2We recommend the right covering for the roof and its use
  3. 3A written quote is agreed before work starts
  4. 4The old covering is stripped and the new system installed
  5. 5The roof is checked for a proper fall so water runs off, not sits

Why Choose Us

A flat roof is only as good as its detailing at the edges and upstands, which is where most flat roof leaks start. We pay particular attention to that detailing rather than just the flat field of the roof.

What Affects the Price

Cost depends on the roof size, the covering chosen (felt, fibreglass or rubber), and whether the deck underneath needs any repair before the new covering goes on. We confirm all of this before quoting.

Questions

Questions People Ask

Felt, fibreglass or rubber, which is best for a garage roof?

All three work well on a garage when fitted correctly. We'll recommend the right option for your roof based on size, budget and how the garage is used.

My flat roof has a puddle after rain, is that a problem?

Some ponding after heavy rain is common, but water that sits for more than 48 hours usually points to a fall issue we should look at before it causes a leak.

How long does a flat roof covering usually last?

It depends on the material and how well it's fitted, but felt, fibreglass and rubber (EPDM) systems are all designed to give many years of service when installed with the right falls and detailing at the edges.

Can a flat roof be repaired, or does it need a full replacement?

A localised split, blister or edge detail can often be repaired on its own. A full recover or replacement usually makes sense once the covering is failing in multiple places or the deck underneath is affected.

Do you check the timber deck underneath the covering?

Yes, we inspect the deck when we strip the old covering back, since a soft or rotten deck needs sorting before a new covering goes on top of it.
